nate5532
After all of the technical stuff to get my mac working, this is a stupid ass problem. I did google it and can't find my answer. Previously I went from JAS 10.5.4 on my 24" monitor, then moved it to my 50" samsung. The display on the 24" monitor was perfect (meaning I could view the entire desktop) and when I moved it to my 50" tv, I can't see the menu bar at the top of the screen. I just installed iPC 10.5.4 (hoping maybe it would fix itself, lol) and am having the same issues. The ZOOM setting is turned off and is zoomed all the way out. I have also changed the resolution to every setting possible with no luck... I really want my mac to be seen in all of it's 50" glory!! My hackmac specs: GA EP35-DS3L V1.0 BIOS F5 Q6600 QUAD CORE 4GB KINGSTON 800 FSB 8800GT 512MB iPC 10.5.4 w/ nvdarwin512 Any suggestions would be appreciated, this is terribly annoying. nate5532
Man this is horse {censored}! I've been working on this since my last post. No progress, just posting for more info and incase anyone else has this problem. I found out that the native res on my samsung 50" plasma is 1365x768 (720p), and that osx doesn't support that resolution. I downloaded a program called "SwitchResX" and made a custom resolution to fit my tv's native resolution.... and it all went back, my tv just said mode not supported or some BS. Tried to boot up into safemode, and it was all black too! I think it forces the resolution and takes control from OSX. So I had to reinstall again.... One other thought I saw on google was that it could be your tv's overscan setting (which I don't have on my tv) or it could be fixed by using a VGA cable instead of a DVI to HDMI cable or just HDMI. And of course I can't find my damn VGA cables... If anyone can get this working via DVI to HDMI I would be psyched... If I can get this working, I may become a former windows user.
