Mikey DL
I've successfully installed Kalyway 10.5.2 then comboupdated to 10.5.5 everything works in safe mode but normal start up freezes on apple boot screen. Using -v I see that each time I restart it freezes "randomly" I say randomly but its actually randomly between a few different things. 1) mDNSresponder " " " " " " " Starting. 2) gfx0: match catagory IOFramebuffer exists. just as i was writing this message i ran into a new one (sorry coz i have to type this) 3) "my username" mDNSresponder[22] WARNING sandbox_init error Could not set mach lookup policy for service com.apple.bsd.dirhelper err=1100Could not set mach lookup policy for service com.apple.distributed_notification.2 err=1100could not set mach lookup policy for service com.apple.ocspd eer=1100Could not set mach lookup policy for servicecom.apple.mDNSresponderHelper err=1100 Could not set mach lookup policy for servicecom.apple.securityserver err=1100 Could not set mach lookup policy for servicecom.apple.systemconfiguration.configd er rtl_r1000_nic_ext : Ethernet Address 00:00:00:00:00:00 (but with my mac address) Im very new to OSx86 and relatively new OS X and macs. I have an idea it may be down to the kexts but i have NO idea when it comes to changing them. Hope i have given enough information. I hope someone can help. Beerkex'd
Try booting with -s -x When it stops loading and lands at the command prompt, type /sbin/fsck -fy like it says on the screen. If you get a message that says 'File System Was Modified', type /sbin/fsck -fy again. Then type exit and press return. When you arrive at the desktop, run Disk Utility and click repair permissions. Going by the framebuffer error and the fact that you can boot in safe mode I think your problem may be with your graphics drivers. Mikey DL
WOW! thanks for the quick reply. I did as you said but no avail. Just got the same errors (ive restarted a few times since and had each of the errors again) Is it possible that it's multiple issues maybe with Ethernet and Graphics? I only ask due to the "gfx0: match catagory IOFramebuffer exists." and "mDNSresponder " " " starting" hangs Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/162690-boot-hang-1055-update/#findComment-1136699 Share on other sites
