hodgestructure
Hi, I have one Laptop, there are 4 partitions on it. disk0s1 = XP 32-bit, NTFS disk0s2 = Retail Leopard 10.5, installed from disk0s3, then update to 10.5.6 disk0s3 = Installation DVD ( I restore the DVD to this partition ) disk0s5 = NTFS, Logical When installed Leopard, I just formated disk0s2 as Mac OS Extended Journaled. I didn't choose GUID or MBR, (so it is MBR, of course...) In fact, I modified (only !!) one file in Retail DVD, OSInstall.mpkg, in order to install Retail Leopard on MBR partition. After installation, I have to use SSE2_3.iso (boot-132 iso, I downloaded from a chinese site) to boot Leopard. (Boot from this iso first, then type Esc -> 80 -> Choose Leopard Partition). This works. I also tried BOOT-KABYL-BUMBY, but it doesn't work. The wheel is always running. I tried to use tboot. At first, it doesn't work at all. After doing the following ./dd if=/usr/standalone/i386/boot1h of=/dev/rdiskXsY bs=512 count=1 ./startupfiletool -v /dev/rdiskXsY /usr/standalone/i386/boot ./bless -device /dev/diskXsY -setBoot -verbose (by using a usb with the files about bootfix, see the link at end) It showed "Darwin/X86 Boot ....", then very quickly, it restart.... When I used SSE2_3.iso to boot, I saw "Darwin/X86 Boot...Chameleon-pre--- " Also this iso have some .kext files inside INITRD.IMG. My Questioin is that: What should I do to make this Leopard boot without SSE2_3.iso, just by tboot. I don't want to, each time I boot leopard, boot SSE2_3.iso first and choose partition. Thanks... ------------ files about bootfix http://rapidshare.com/files/65965115/files.rar.html Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/162270-help-retail-leopard-on-mbr-partition/ Share on other sites
hodgestructure
I found the solution, just install Chameleon_DFE_for_Hard_Disk. But I have a question. In this thread, http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...116505&st=0 llauqsd said : 8. Once in Leopard, use OSX86Tools to install the chameleon bootloader. 9. Delete the /boot file at the root of your hard drive. 10. Replace this file with the boot file from Boot-132. 11. Copy the /extra/extensions folder you created earlier to the root of your hard drive. But it doesn't work for me...it always restart. (the boot 132 image works) So what's the difference between the above method and using Chameleon_DFE_for_Hard_Disk ??
