Steven2k7
I've been trying to install a retail version of 10.5.6 on my HP DV9700t for a few months now. I've tried the EFI retail guide in the Tutorials forum, and the two retail guides stickied at the top of this forum, and so far I've had almost no luck. However, around the second time I attempted the install, it worked, but something happened where I was forced to reinstall it. Now I cant figure out how I got it to work the first time. I've tried at least 40 times since then. I've noticed something similar in almost all of the installs I've attempted though. I do the install while in a Kalyway install I have setup, and it goes through fine. I do everything the guides instruct me to, then restart. I boot with the -v flag, and almost every time, it stops at this, or something very similar: **date and time** localhost mDNSResponder[33]: Couldn't read user-specified computer name; using default bDevice-001E680A0051b instead **date and time** localhost mDNSResponder[33]: Couldn't read user-specified local hostname; using default bDevice-001E680A0051b.localb instead AppleRTL8169Ethernet: phyWaitForAutoNegotiation TIMEOUT Then it repeats the first 2 lines anywhere between 4-8 more times. Sometimes if I boot with -x or -f, the mDSNResponder[33] will change from 33 to 21 or 22. I've been looking around, and it appears to be releated to my LAN. However, there is no option in my BIOS to disable it. I've also removed my wireless card, but that didnt change anything. Computer specs: Model: HP DV9700t, 17" CPU: Intel core 2 duo, 2.2ghz 3gb RAM 320gb 7200hdd (with Vista), 120gb 7200hdd for Leopard. I have kallyway on an external drive I've been looking around the forums, and it seems the DV9000 series is a pretty common laptop around here. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can try, or what may work to get a retail install? I was going to wait and just use the next Leo4All instead, but that is dead now... Steven2k7
Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried installing Leo4All v3 yesterday, and I get the same message, except with mDNSResponder[131]. Steven2k7
I figured out that the exact model of my network card is: Realtek RTL8168B/8111B PCI-E gigabit Ethernet. Does anyone know where I can find a driver for it? Or is that even the problem?
