masterpro
Hello All I finally succeded in installing IPC 10.5.6 on my Shuttle SX38P2 but I still have a problem with the sound The audio chip featured on the motherboard is the Realtek ALC888DD (I think it is also featured in the Gigabyte 965P DQ6). I already tried several drivers (for ALC888 or for ALC888D) but I haven't found any for ALC888DD. Installation goes through all the process but after rebooting there is no sound (no output/input device in the list) Has anybody sound with his ALC888DD? Thanks a lot for your help! Not sure what to tell you. I have a Shuttle SP35P2 which uses the same ALC888 sound and mine works. I output to the external speakers no problem. My issue is with the front-panel mic/headphones ports don't work. Update to my earlier reply .. My audio was working but only basically. Audio out (Line Out) and In (Line In) worked but the system didn't really know what sort of audio I had - it just made it work. My front panel connections weren't working, etc. I found a thread here tho that I tried and by golly it works! It now knows what sort of audio I have, it knows all the different jacks, even SPDIF. Now don't get me wrong, I don't know yet that they all work, especially the SPDIF since I never use that but hey, its a step forward! Anyway, the thread you want to look at is this one : ALC888 link I downloaded and used the 1.6.2a37_888.zip file. Installed the kexts, rebooted (use -F) and damned if it didn't show me all my ports I'll post again if all my tests are successful. madcandleman
Another update: My front headphone jack now works. I normally have speakers plugged in to the back and when I plug my headphones in the output switches like it should. However this is not true of the microphone. Still can't get the front Mic port to work properly. I only use stereo speakers so I don't know if the full 5.1 thing works or not and I have no way to test that I'm afraid. masterpro
Hello! Thanks a lot for your help! I'll try the 1.6.2a37_888.zip file today. With that driver installed have you something in the input/outpout device list in leopard? Do you have a ALC888 or a ALC888DD audio chip? I saw that it is a ALC888 in the SP35P2 and a ALC888DD in the SP35P2 PRO. Mine is a ALC888DD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/160369-alc888dd-driver/#findComment-1124615 Share on other sites

The "Audio" section of the System Profiler also lists all my in/out ports As for which version of the ALC888 I have, I don't have a clue. :censored2: Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/160369-alc888dd-driver/#findComment-1124833 Share on other sites
