redmonke255
I've decided that I want to use Kalyway instead of iAtkos because I can easily change the settings orange settings in Kalyway, and I'll use some of those programs. Ok, so I'll download kalyway later, but first I need to prepare. Here's some info on my system: Toshiba Satellite L300 Intel Pentium Dual Core 2.0Ghz (will this work with Vanilla?) 2gb of ram 250gb hard drive (I'll get to partitions later) Intel gma 4500 (If I understand correctly, there are no drivers for this yet [same for ubuntu] so I won't be able to run 3d things well. I want to know if something like imovie would work, because on my ubuntu partition, I can watch youtube videos but there's some black speckles/boxes that pop up once in a while. I tested on runescape for 3d and I can play on low detail, but no high detail, so I'm guessing imovie should work. I'll do a tester watching a movie in ubuntu to see how it fairs.) For networking I have: Atheros AR9281 wireless (no drivers for this, either huh) Realtek RTL8102E/8103E family (I'm guessing no drivers...) Sound: Realtek High Definition Audio If you need any more info, just ask. NOW this is my stragety plan, hoping all works out right: I have Vista as my main partition (200 something gb) then a 15gb Ubuntu partition along with some recovery partitions that I will delete because I've put them on a disk already. I'm planning on making a new partition (maybe 20-30gb [what do I need to make the storage type?]) with gparted. I've heard that you should use Fat32 and then use the disk utility in the installer to erase it and make it hfs+, but wouldn't it be faster to just make a hfs+ partition with gparted? After the installer works out (name it leopard. Can't have spaces), there won't be a boot option for OS X, so I'll open up Ubuntu, either use Kgrubeditor to add it in (if possible) if not I'll just go in and edit the menu.lst to (something along these lines) Leopard hd (0,3) depending on my partition make active bootloader +1 That was off the top of my head. I'll just kinda copy and paste my vista/longhorn loader and change the partition around. THEN I SHOULD BE HOME FREE! (hopefully) Now some questions: What is chameleon and do I need it if I already have grub? What exactly is pc efi and do I need it? If so, where do I put it (somewhere in grub?)? When I'm choosing the partition, I use mbr, correct? That's the one that's good for dual/tri booting, correct? What's the difference between Kalyway and iDeneb? Should I use one over the other? I'll ask more questions as they come up. Thanks in advance. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/159747-few-kalyway-questions/ Share on other sites
