Mwaun Posted March 26, 2009 Share Posted March 26, 2009 Hi all I am trying to install Mac OS 10.5 using this guide http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=157772 I have a P35-DS3 MOBO. Everything works as it should upuntill I insert the mac install dvd and it gets to the grey apple screen and the progress symbol (the spinning symbol) just keeps spinning! when i try -v everything seems to be going well, then... i get a message sam multimedia: read or write failed, sense _key = 0x03, asc = 0×02, ascq = 0×00 sam multimedia: read or write failed, sense _key = 0x03, asc = 0×02, ascq = 0×00 sam multimedia: read or write failed, sense _key = 0x03, asc = 0×02, ascq = 0×00 sam multimedia: read or write failed, sense _key = 0x03, asc = 0×02, ascq = 0×00 this keeps repeating over and over again! It could be a bad media and/or bad burn......burn at ≤ x4.......or if you have a SATA DVDRW it could be a device recognition issue...... I do have a SATA DVDRW... Is it worth trying another Drive. Yes try a PATA (IDE) DVDRW if you have one......BUT also check if your BIOS settings are correct.......e.g. set SATA mode to AHCI....... When you boot always boot with -v.....this way you can see what error messages are appearing...... When you boot from the DVD........quickly press F8 to get to the Darwin boot prompt......and then type -v cpus=1 maxmem=2048......and report what happens..... BTW maxmem=2048 is not needed if you have ≤ 2GB RAM......
