Nick Burman
Hi all, long time lurker, and I think first time poster! I recently upgraded my main rig so had my machine sitting around gathering dust. I decided to pick up where I left off many months ago and install OS X on this rig. Specs: ASROCK ALIVE NF6G-DVI AMD Athlon 64 X2 3000+ nForce 2 chipset + networking controller nVidia GeForce 7300GT Realtek 8139 PCI network card Onboard ALC888 audio codec 80GB Hard disk - SATA Pioneer DVD-RW - IDE How I installed: I downloaded the Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD amd/intel SSE2/3 Booted from dvd When started, created a full partition on the hard disk, then went on to select which packages to install. Selected all AMD patches then finished the install. When I rebooted it I got straight into a working OSX install but without audio or networking. I couldn't get the nvidia networking controller to work, so went and got myself a Realtek 8139 PCI card, which I plugged in and was away (after discovering my PCI slots are dodgy!). For the Audio, I downloaded the ALC888Audio package from this very website - rebooted and worked fine. Then I decided to try to get QE/CI enabled on my graphics card. I downloaded NVKush, which comes as an installable package, and rebooted. My card is detected as "I can has name?", but QE/CI works absolutely fine, no problems My next quest is to try Firewire - I have a generic PCI firewire card which I may try to get working. Other than that, its all up and running fine Hope this helps people, feel free to ask any questions about my process to install or hardware. Cheers Nick All AMD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/158156-my-install-experiences/ Share on other sites
