I have an ECS 945GCT-M/1333 motherboard that I purchased on a Frys special some time back. It's been up and running Kalyway, but this weekend I decided to give BOOT-132 a try.

Just using the generic Boot-132 ISO, everything installs fabulously.

I attempted to create a 5GB "boot partition" and the rest of my 320GB drive as my "data". I have another hack based on a GA-EP45-DS3R, and I copied my USB Boot-132 onto the 5 GB boot partition, and I now boot from the hard drive.

With my 945GCT-M/1333, I cannot get this to work.

I restore the USB image to the hard drive, and then attempt to set the partition as active.

When I use log into terminal and type:

fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0

it returns an error "Permission Denied".

If I type the command sudo fdisk - e /dev/rdisk0, it apears to set the correct partition as active, but when I reboot I'm left with only a blinking cursor.

I saw somewhere else on the site a suggestion that this had to do with the GPT protected partition. I'm not entirely sure what that is, but there was a suggestion to fdisk -e /dev/disk0sX and flag 1 as active.

I tried that with my partition (disk0s3), but I'm still left with the blinking cursor.

I really don't want to boot from CD for all eternity, so I'd really like to figure out how to get the 'boot partition' working on this install, but I'm at a loss. I'm sure there's something that I'm missing, but heck if I can figure it out!
