osX86 on MBR harddisk

I've some problems with MBR partition table vs. GUID partition table

 

I got OS X 10.5.6 running on my system without flaws by installing kalyway 10.5.2 and then doing the combo update to 10.5.6

It was installed on a P-ATA harddisk with three partitions (two of them unused). Now i needed this harddisk for another purpose (i needed to install windows vista). Since vista did not want to install on a harddisk with GPT (it needs MBR), i created a backup dmg Image of my working OS X 10.5.6 installation, cleared the harddisk, removed GPT and restored MBR, and finally installed vista on a partition 1/3 the size of the harddisk.

 

Now i'd like to put back my OS X backup onto a second partition of this MBR harddisk! in Vista, i created a second partition (also 1/3 in size) without formating it and restarted the computer using the Kalyway 10.5.2 installation disk. In the setup, i run the Disk utility. However - the disk utility seems to be unable to work with my MBR harddisk. It neither can add a new partition, nor can it format the second partition which i created in Vista.

 

How do i get my OS X backup on a second partition of this harddisk without destroying my Vista installation?

Here's the problem: Disk utility can't work with NTFS partitions. Vista creates NTFS partitions by default. You need the 2nd partition to be Fat32k, then you can erase it, and re-install!

I didn't format the second partition at all! i left it unpartitioned (RAW)

 

also i tried this method:

 

use diskpart

delete the previously created partition

 

then create a partition like this with id

 

type : create partition primary size=xxxxx id=af

type : active

 

you're done

 

result is the same. When i start Disk utility, i can't use the second partition - i also cann't create a new partition (although there is still plenty of unpartitioned space on the disk)

 

I always get an error saying you cannot install Mac os x on this volume, this volume cannot be edited (or changed, or something like that)
