mrfatboy Posted March 2, 2009 Share Posted March 2, 2009 I have installed iDeneb 10.5.6 (default kernel) and I have ethernet working but NOT wireless. I installed the wireless RTL8187L driver (iDeneb 10.5.6) for the Asus PBK-E wifi board. The wireless card is enabled in the BIOS. My Ipod Touch sees the wireless router fine. When I go into the Network settings in system preferences I see 2 Ethernet connections (Ethernet & Ethernet 2). Ethernet 2 from what I understand is the wireless card on the motherboard. I have tried the following. 1) Connect with DHCP automatically. This self assigns an IP address for my computer and say it is connected. However, I can't see the internet with Safari. I do notice that the self assigned IP is 169.254.163.23. My internet network is 172.16.1.XXX. 2) Connect with DHCP manually. I enter in a unique IP address. For ex. 172.16.1.101 and the DNS server 172.16.1.1. It then says it is connected. However, I can't see the internet with Safari Also, there is a Realtek USB WLAN Client Utility that was installed with iDeneb. My wireless card is built into the motherboard so I'm not sure if this utility has anything to do with what I need. It does not see any active wireless networks. Does anybody have any suggestions? Does anybody have the RTL8187L wireless working? Are you staying I should be able to see any available networks using the Realtek USB Wlan Utility? I thought I read somewhere that you were only able to setup the wireless network via the network settings. If this works for everybody I am wondering if my wifi is dead. Remember, my wifi is built into the mother board not a USB dongle. Does the Realtek Utility handle both? I have the AMD version of your board (M2N32 SLI) and it uses the same built-in wireless adapter. You need to use the Realtek USB utility. I didn't have to install any other utility. No need to use any 3rd party adapter.
