edit: When I started Leopard back up and went to the Network settings, after it said it detected a Network Card, it said I needed to click Apply if the settings were right. Once I clicked apply, it turned on. Not sure why it wouldn't turn on before then, but it's working right now.

I just got a new computer that I built to be a hackintosh. It's a Core 2 Quad, and I followed LTL's (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=86167) guide to install from the Leopard DVD (which I have imaged on my iPod right now).

So, I partitioned the disk GPT, installed from the Leopard image, ran the pc-efi v9 Bootloader, and ran LTL's 4.4 post patch.

Nothing works out of the box. Using EFI Studio, I got my video to work. But I don't understand the other options. AZAL, HD something, and Network. I have an ALC 883 integrated audio chip and a RealTek integrated 8111c ethernet.

I installed XxX 10.5.6 PPF3 to another drive. From his options, I selected the RealTek 8111 driver and the AtherosWireless package. When I boot into XxX, both my wired and wireless work. So I coped the AppleRTL8169.kext from XxX to the vanilla install. That made the wired ethernet work.

Since I had such a good result from that, I decided to copy the AirPortAtheros5424.kext to my vanilla install. The version from XxX on Tiger 10.4.11 worked for my old computer with the same card, and the version from XxX Leopard 10.5.6 PPF3 worked on my new computer. But copying it to the vanilla install hasn't worked so far.

When I first loaded the kext, it complained about com.apple.IO80211Family wanting version 153 and I had version 1.02 or something like that. I wish I'd written it down cause I haven't seen the error since. I decided to try loading the kext again, and it said it was a success. It even brought up a dialog saying it found my AirPort card. However, it is turned off and it won't turn on no matter how many times I press that button.

So I removed the Extensions.mkext and removed the entire IO80211Family.kext and replaced it with the one from the XxX install. That hasn't helped either.

I ran the AtherosWireless package from the XxX disc on my vanilla install, but that hasn't helped either. It really didn't seem to do anything.

So, does anyone know what I'm doing wrong here? I am able to use the wireless card in this machine with the XxX install, so I know it can work. I'm just not sure what I'm doing wrong. Is there another kext that works with IO80211Family or it's Plugins that I should try to replace?

Thanks.
