gre9del
DISCLAIMER: I have tried all of the (what I believe to be) common methods of fixing AppleTV connection issues. Restarting, re-installing itunes, pinging the ATV while opening itunes, turning off the apple firewall etc.. Ok, so I'm a veteran of many os x installs on many different machines and configurations, some straightforward, some really out there, but I've never had an odd issue like this and I need some help tracking it down and fixing it. I'm currently running a quad core machine and using an EFI-X dongle to boot it. It is running Leopard 10.5.6 and Itunes 8.0. I have 2 more machines that I'm using to test this problem. One is a Win Server 2003 machine and the other is a Dell Mini 9 running a slipstreamed version of OS X (soon to be redone using boot 123). Both have itunes 8 installed. I have an AppleTV in the living room that I was previously using connected to a windows machine (the one that is now my main hackintosh). The AppleTV is connected to the network using a cable, although I have tried it connected to wireless as well. I am using a WRT54G with DDWRT firmware on it, all firewalls disabled that I can see. Now that I have OS X installed, I can see the apple TV over the network by pinging it from the terminal but I cannot get iTunes to recognize it in the devices list or under preferances. Both the Win 2003 machine and the Mini 9 see the ATV just fine in iTunes. I am at a total loss as to what to do here. Any help would be appreciated! dvdrsmth
FWIW same issue here. iTunes can see the Apple TV on my Windows machines, but no dice on the 10.5.6 Hack. I can also ping it via terminal on the hack, but not sure what the disconnect is.... Perhaps on a related note, I cannot get the AirPort utility to see my Airport extreme connected via ethernet either. As far as next-steps, I'm thinking of either downgrading iTunes to 7.X and if that doesn't work try reinstalling 10.5.6 with no updates to see if that gets me anywhere... edit: I found a post paste below that had the same issue and solved it (My mainboard does have a Realtek chip, just not sure which one) Problem solved. Using Netgear GA311 NIC card solved the problem apparently the Realtek 8168C Onboard NIC has some issues with Bonjour, but the Realtek 8169S in the Netgear works perfect!
