iPhoneiac
After 1 month of research I am back to square 1. I am building a media file server in an all OS X environment using rack mount components. (I know but it's cool and cheap). I would like to have a 6 X 2 TB SATA II Raid 5 array and do not plan to boot from this array. This means I need a motherboard with a total of 8 sata ports (6 for Raid, 1 for boot, and one for DVD). I would like one with an integrated SIL chipset becasue form what I understand, I will not be able to build an array from an ICH10 (p45) chipset and would like to avoid the expense of a raid card. I have seen some Tyan server boards but do not want to spend on a Xeon based setup due to cost. Any Core2duo or Core2quad board would do. Please advise, thank you.
