projekt k
im sorry when people say you can do a retail install of mac onto the hackintosh set up does that mean you just turn it on with the leopord disk and it starts up or is there something installed into the bios that is able to read a retail osx without patches. also i want to run leapord, are there any issues with using the most recent version, do you prefer tiger? i jus like having newer software. I'm anywhere between a day to a year of this set up attemp. I'm lookin for a job so I obviously have no extra money yet, but id like to start asking questions now. also with the p45 boards, which one do you reccomend. I am only interested in one with at least 1 on board firewire port. I only need one and would rather not get a pci card with firewire on it. I would never get 16 GB's of ram but are there any successful reading of the full 16. More of the question Im trying to figure out is the p45 board and the osx very friendly with eachother. I am a newb so my lack of knowledge is there. If i knew everything I wouldnt be here. Well I am more of here because this is my favorite computer forum on the net. I think thats all my questions for now. I'm in no hurry yet so I'll just go off some of the responses I get here. Synaesthesia
It's called Boot-132, a special CD which allows you to boot with the retail DVD. I would recommend a prepatched Leopard though - it's the easiest. EG iDeneb, iAtkos, etc It works perfectly, if you have the right hardware. Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P. http://www.insanelymac.com/osx86db/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/152669-retail-instal-of-osx-onto-pc-question/#findComment-1078621 Share on other sites
projekt k
thanks now with that board do you know if the onboard network adapter is compatible. I have no interest in dealing with wireless on a hackintosh. I am actually saving the three pcie ports for a pro tools hd3 rig or the two pci ports for the hd2 rig. now another question do you recommend using the express 2.0 for graphics? thanks SAMSUNG 22X DVD Burner Black SATA Model SH-S223F - OEM at 23.99 GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail at 134.99 Rosewill RX750-D-B 750W 80Plus Certified, ATX12V v2.2 & EPS12V v2.91 SLI 8800GTX SLI CrossFire Ready Active PFC Power Supply - Retail at 114.98 thats what I have so far figured out at a total of 273.96 plus shipping and handling. so I figure I still need graphics card... and a hardrive, I want a 1TB HD and a 500 GB hard drive. Will both of these work with hacked mac. also lets say my mac crashes, is it pretty easy to format hard drives and start over. Whats the max HD's a hacked mac will recognize with this board, can i max it out would be an easier question to answer. I am not getting multiple drives to run multiple OS's. If I wanted a PC i'd build a PC lol. I want the mac to be its own machine. Also I want to know what the best hacked mac iso is for this board. do they have an official site where I can download the hacked version. do they sell it? do u have a trusted torrent source I can use, I don't want to get a virus lol. also audio engineers if you know of a trusted torrent for logic pro 8 id like to just download it now and keep it on back up. also on the graphics card I am not trying to edit movies here, maybe have the capability of playing movies, i prefer a pc for games. lookin for 512 MB graphics only, I guess if the price is very close I'll bumb it up. If you have opinions on my list please give Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/152669-retail-instal-of-osx-onto-pc-question/#findComment-1078981 Share on other sites
