I'm in the process of setting up a Leopard (10.5.4) retail install on my machine by following the guide at http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=117834.

I have a GA-P35-DS3L motherboard with a q6600 processor, 4GB RAM, and an XFX 8600GT 512 MB video card. The instructions in the guide point to an "Extra" folder containing kexts to install. Prior to installing these kexts, my graphics card seems to work perfectly, all resolutions selectable and quartz extreme is supported (I've already gone through EFIStudio). However, following the installation of the kexts in "Extra/Extensions" (and a reboot), Quartz Extreme becomes unsupported. Does anyone know what kext(s) might be breaking my quartz extreme and how I can get around it? I've tried installing the kexts one at a time but they seem to have unlisted dependencies and I end up with an unbootable system. The kexts in that folder are:

ACPIPS2Nub.kext

AppleAC97Audio.kext

AppleACPIPlatform.kext

AppleAHCIPort.kext

AppleAPIC.kext

AppleAzaliaAudio.kext

AppleGenericPCATA.kext

AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext

dsmos.kext

ApplePS2Controller.kext

AppleSMBIOS.kext

AppleVIAATA.kext

IntelCPUPMDisabler.kext

SMBIOSEnabler.kext

Any help is appreciated. Thanks for your time!

I'm now attempting the process of installing all kexts except one, one at a time (then restoring the originals and trying again). The thought is that eventually, if I exclude one and after a reboot I still have QE, I'll know that that's the troublemaker.

It may or may not work. Any advice or help is still greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help!
