killer moses
I have two hard drives in my system: C, where Leopard is installed, and D, where my XP installation lived. I had just been using my BIOS startup menu to select which drive to boot to and this has worked fine. That is until I decided to install Windows 7 where XP used to be - now I can't boot into either. The Windows 7 install completed, the computer reboots and now I just get "DISK ERROR" when I try to boot into Leopard and "BOOTMGR NOT FOUND" when I try to boot the Windows 7 drive. Any easy way to fix this? Thanks. Edit - I was finally able to boot into Leo by booting off the OSX DVD and hitting F8 and booting into safe mode ( which is where I'm typing this from ). If you want to dual boot Leopard and Win XP or Windows 7, then Win XP or Windows 7 has to be installed in C drive. Since you have 2 hdd, the Leopard should be in the 2nd hdd. If you have placed the necessary bootloader like chain0 into XP or Win 7's boot.ini file, the choice to boot Win XP (or Win 7) or Leopard will appear in the windows boot up screen. Please read up dual booting at various OSX86 sites. I was just hoping maybe there was some kind of boot manager utility that could sort it out without me having to back up, format, and reinstall everything. Before you reformat and reinstall the 2 OS, perhaps you try this. Use a software like Gparted or Partition Magic to change the drive letter of the hdd containing Windows 7 to C and change drive letter of hdd containing OSX to D or other letter. Then go to BIOS and set the hdd containing Windows 7 to boot before the OSX hdd. If this allows Windows 7 to boot up, half of your problem is solved. Then you read up steps to dual boot Vista and OSX and do the necessary editing in Windows 7's boot.ini file which would allows the choice to boot Windows 7 or OSX to appear in the Windows 7 boot up screen. Best of luck to you.
