Hi all,

I don't want to bore you with a long story, so I'll attempt to make it as short as possible. First off, I have successfully been using Kalyway's wonderful 10.5.2 on my XPS m1710 for about a year now. Started with 10.5.1 and updated and didn't seem the need to go on, as it was working one hardware issue from perfect. The other day I wanted to use the new iWork 09 and the installer told me I needed to upgrade to 10.5.4 atleast. So, I updated using Kalyway's 10.5.3 Combo and it went very smooth (DID NOT install 9.3 kernel - kept the 9.2) All was well (seemed a little slower than my 10.5.2) untill I made a mistake. I saw somewhere to backup 4 or 5 .kext and reload them after install, one of them being AppleACPIPlatform.kext. This is where my problem comes in:

After installing the 10.5.2 .kexts using KextHelper ("everything looks fine, cross your fingers and reboot") and rebooting, I now receive a grey screen calling on reboot and the kernel panic:

panic(cpu 0 caller 0x00431CE1): "Unable to find driver for this platform: \ACPI\".\n'@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1228.3.13/iokit/Kernel/IOPlatformExpert.cpp:1405

Debugger called:<panic>

Backtrace, Format - Frame : Return Address (4 potential args on stack)

~THEN THERE ARE 7 ROWS OF DEBUG INFO. IN THE FORM OF: 0x2debfdd8 etc... and underneath that is:

Backtrace terminated-invalid frame pointor 0

I have been googling, insanelymac searching and begging my machine to no avail.

Steps I have takin are:

-Used "-f -x -v" flags - all resulting in the grey screen with "You need to restart your computer..." with the panic in the background

-Booted into original Kalyway 10.5.1 DVD to see if I was possibly missing a kext (AppleACPIPlatform.kext not in Sys/Lib/Extensions folder = this is why I'm assuming (as well well as what the panic says) that it has something to do with AppleACPIPlatform.kext)

-Booted into original Kalyway 10.5.1 DVD and used terminal to kextload AppleACPIPlatform.kext, but it gives me a message of something like "version 1.0.3 in com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform differs from version 1.1.0 that attempted to load"

-Old posts found on google call for pressing f8 at Darwin and typing "boot=APCI or boot=OSX86", but same results.

Specs:

Default kernel 9.2

OS 10.5.3

Kalyway

Dell XPS m1710

Intel Core Duo

2gb Ram

nVidia 7900gtx

I'll do anything - even If I already have, but you think it'll do the trick. If it's an easy fix, please feel free to poke fun at me. Just PLEASE HELP, lol.

P.S. I would just do a fresh install, but you know the story.. vital information that hasn't been backed up. (That'll change!)
