londonmac
Hi There Spent a tidy amount of bandwidth downloading what looks to be a great DVD but Im getting absolutely nowhere - and I'm not a total technical idiot. Can you help? I have an Asus f3sv which googling tell me is fine (dual core intel santa rosa etc`) i put the disk in - it boots to a DOS screen that says Darwin x86 boot v 5 0 132 chameleon v 1 0 11 build date 2008-06-09 2047 mb memory vesa v 3.0 14mb nvidia then in reverse block white letters hd(111,1) iATKOS 5i Press enter to startup darwin wuth no options or you can type -v and press ENTER to start up tih diagnpstic mesages type ? and press ENTER to learn about advanced startup options boot: after that things go downhill if i type -v and hit enter then it flashes up with various brief messages like kernel = simply cannpt read it all - i have a few seconds before the systm reboots so.... is i instead type ? and hit enter i get a b;ank screen with timeout=8 mumber of seconds to pause etc etc and then at the bottom of an otherwise empyu screen it says type space for next page, to quit, help and if i hit space then i get a succession of blank screens with either the occasional character or flshing cursor.. AND THATS IT! great huh? if i choose the press any key option, then it spinds the DVD flashes up the gray apple logo and then almost instantly reboots and I get sent back to the start again...... ANY suggestions? Is this really such a nightmare? I also googled iatkos 5i and asus f3sv (its a laptop) and found some vague conversations talking about ANOTHER io image but do i really have to spend ages downloading gigs of uso in the hope i get any further? if you are kind enough to help, please be MUCH more helpfil that the official instructions which talk about options that I NEVER get to see - i dont see any nice gui just DOS Please reply - if you can with STEP 1, STEP 2 etc etc Im very computer literate but I'm not a mind reader and this Is supposed to be an entirely supported la[top in that hcl thing in wikipedia If not can i PAY someone in London to do this if it really is only possible for NASA programmers?? Many thanks in advance (sorry for typos-its late im tired and fed up) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/150954-iatkos-5i-1055-intel-dvd-and-asus-f3sv-laptop-is-it-really-such-a-nightmare-task/ Share on other sites
realityiswhere
1. Moved from Reader News & Reviews (as this is neither) to the Installation section. 2. Provide more hardware details than just the model name. This shows you're able to find a few things yourself. More hardware details = processor, motherboard (if possible, at least northbridge/southbridge chipsets if not), video card, and amount of RAM.
