b0lt
I just installed OS X86 on my PC after about 4 hours of screwing around. It's almost working perfect, except I need drivers for my Radeon x200 XPRESS onboard video, and AC97 onboard sound. If anyone can help me out with these, I'd greatly appreciate it Also, three slight annoyances I have is the difference between command and alt, mouse buttons 4 and 5 not working, and the mouse wheel scrolling being all screwy. I'm not quite used to the difference between command and alt being used for different things yet, but should get accustomed soon. Mouse buttons 4 and 5 don't work properly in Safari or Firefox, and I don't know why, but I'll google a bit tomorrow. Finally, the mouse wheel scrolling is completely messed up. I'm used to one click of the mouse wheel equalling 3 lines of upward or downward movement. However, it does not act like this. Instead, it's based on the speed at which you scroll the wheel. Is there any way to change this? Otherwise, OS X86 is running great Sorry if this post is a bit incoherent, it's 3:13 AM here, and I haven't gotten any sleep. Thanks, b0lt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/15043-just-installed-os-x86-need-drivers/ Share on other sites
aquanutz
What version of OS X are yor running? 10.4.5?? For the video, get Korveg's patch (search on here for it). The sound, try copying the AppleHDA.kext from 10.4.3 to your Extensions directory and loading it with kextload. You also may need the AppleAC97Audio.kext too. (If you don't have access to these, google or you used to be able to find a torrent of the 10.4.3 extensions at the bay) As for your mouse, get USBOverdrive. You can manuall map all the buttons to work like a champ. Once you apply the Korveg patch though, I highly recommend getting Mousepose, as you will have tearing problems because it's an ATI card. Install Mousepose and then go into "System Preferences" and to "Accounts" and then click "Login Items" and add the "Show Mouse" script that is in the Mousepose folder so that it starts with your machine.. Phew... ok, I hope that helps. Good luck! marimol
I just tried the patch, but it didn't work. My computer locked up after it was done loading everything and was about to show the login screen. I tried several times but couldn't get it to work. b0lt, if you get your radeon xpress 200 to work, please let me know how you did it. b0lt
First, Koverg's patch doesn't work with the x200 according to his post. Second, yeah, PPC drivers don't work with OS X86. Any ideas? Rammjet
why will PPC crash his system? and what is PPC? PPC = PowerPC PPC is the processor in Macs before they moved to Intel. You can't run PPC drivers on an Intel machine.
