Hello,

I just want to clarify a few things. But first off, here's what I did:

I have a USB hard disk with 2 partitions in it. A 33GB one plus a 7GB one. I'm attempting to

I did Deadmoo's dd.exe, pointing it to the correct .IMG file, and also, specifying the correct hard drive, along with the switch that (i think) has the block size to 512 (??). DD did it's thing, my USB HDD clicking away for 2 hours and it was a success for that part

When I attempted to boot from the USB hard disk, the BIOS gave me a (i think) HFS+ Partition Error message and stops there.

So my questions are: Will OS X load off a partition on a USB hard disk? Or/and am I doing the correct things...

P.S.: Tried on 2 computers; all with the same problem

(by the way, has this been discussed before? Search function sucks, gave me irrelevant results)

Well, I got it to work, thereby lifting the "n00b" title off of my chest :)

I'm going to make my findings public now so that everyone with the same problem can refer back to it.

I used my commercial partition editor to make sure my OSX partition is type "AF" and that it is primary (the former is what caused the HFS+ error prompt). Then I proceeded with the DD'ing

Have a nice day

"Commercial partition editor - which program is that?

I had the same problem.. then I formated the partition and made it primary with Partition Magic... Now how do I make it type AF?

I used Acronis Disk Director Suite. It comes with "Partition Editor"; that can be used to change the partition type to "AF".

(Correction: I created and made a partition as Primary. I then did the DD to the NTFS hard drive before converting it to "AF")

Okay thx :D , I'll try that when I come home, hope that it will work..
