When trying to start the installer for the OS (Version 10.5.6) and get the error "Still waiting for root device"

I have patched my DVD for Nforce chipset issues, and here is my setup:

- Intel E6600 Core 2 Duo

- Nvidia 9600GT (In SLI)

- XFX SLI motherboard, Nforce 7 chipset.

- Two HDDs in RAID1, as well as two standalone HDDs

- 4GB DDR2 RAM

I've looked on the compatible hardware lists and found that someone needed a kext for their 9600GT, but I'm unsure if I can even take action on that if the system isn't even loading.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Edit: I posted this in the wrong subforum! Sorry, could someone please move it?

I think it might be your Raid configuration. Usually when installing its best to not do raid stuff as that can be confusing OS X. Try just a stand alone disk and just a single stick of ram. The smaller the better.

Also, are you using a Distro or retail osx? I have almost the exact same card and didn't do any patching to the dvd before hand.

Hope that helps or at least gets you some response on your issues

I tried stripping my system down to the basics, but I only succeeded in wasting time.

I'm going to try getting a different distro.

Has anyone any suggestions on which distros will work well with an Intel/ Nvidia/ Nvidia Nforce system? Last time I downloaded one on a whim, and it doesn't seem to have worked out.
