Chaz_UK
Hi all. I found a damaged Dell Vostro 200m locally and me being me couldn't help but have a sniff round it. The case was torn open and the HDD was gone. This sadly means that it's been open to the elements recently and the case had some mud inside covering the motherboard. I noticed nearly all the components were still inside so I've taken it home and stripped it and this is what it contained: Seem in good condition Intel E2140 1.6GHz - Looks in good condition. 2x 512MB DDR2 Simms (HYST64t4000HU-3S- - Both good condition. TS-H653 SATA DVD R/W Drive Dell Multi card reader (Internal USB I assume) Broken/Wet/Muddy CPU HSF - One blade broken on the cooling fan. Foxconn G33M02 - Caked in mud and wet. I'm drying it out now and will give it a clean to see if it works) Case - Damaged but still has Vista Business licence. (Is there any way I can remove the license sticker from the case without damaging it? AFAIK this is legal in the E.U) PSU - Damaged. Won't even bother with this. I'm assuming the CPU, RAM, DVD drive are fine and I already have an 80GB SATA 2.5" laptop drive sitting around which I will use as a HDD until I can get a newer one so all I'm really after is a motherboard and VGA suggsetion. I'll get a cheap PSU, Hetasink and case for it and the Hackintosh (if it works) can replace our old eMac. Can anyone suggest a motherboard and VGA card (A mobo with onboard VGA would do fine aswell) to use with these components in mind? 2nd question, I take it even tho it's labeled Pentium that the E2140 is a 64bit CPU? Thanks for any help!
