Hey Guys I am a big newbie and only have to questions one is when you install os x can you use the boot camp software if you have iLife to partition your harddrive. And what type of dvd drive do you need to use will a dvd-rom drive work?

DVD-Rom should work fine.

So you have an existing Windows installation and you want to install OSX in addition?

Yes that is correct I have been researching about putting os x on a pc and I am planning to put it on my acer aspire one. And do you have any tips or software that makes dual booting simpler? I don't understand it.

I have one of those. They are fun little machines :)

I have one with a 160gb hard. Did you get that one or the one with the small solid state drive? You will be able to get: Graphics, Audio, Mic, LAN & Touchpad working but Wireless will require replacing the internal card with one thats compatible like the Dell 1390. It cost me $9 + shipping on Ebay. The installation process isnt too complicated and there are a plethora of videos on the net showing you how.

I used iPC 10.5.6 on mine. I restored the disk image to an External USB Hard Drive and booted from it to install. Check the links out below... Though you may want to pull only what you need from the below posts. They talk about updating and such and if you go with the latest you should have any problems.

When you install you should choose the bare minimum of options. No graphics as choosing nothing will still give you default graphics just without hardware exceleration.

These two links will give you pretty much all the information you need to get your netbook up and running.

Read through these and then search around for dual boot guides. Generally Ive partitioned the drive from windows and then ran the installer. There are various methods of setting up your boot loader to choose which OS to install explained in these guides.
