After a week of reading and obsessing I went ahead and installed iAtkos 2.0 v10.5.2.

The question I have now is....

How do I know my installation is fully functional. Is there a checklist out there to make sure I'm not overlooking something? I don't want to realize a month later that a certain program doesn't work or I'm not able to record audio.

Thanks.

Pressure test it....

What if you left the store with this same question mark? You would install all your usual programs and go about testing the hell out of it all, right? Same here ...

A checklist might be good, but I'm not sure anyone has one compiled. As you push your build thru it's paces you'll soon know what is or isn't functioning the way you'd like.

Start with the basics ... partital lists can be found in the varied sig lines you find members have here. IOW's begin by testing audio, wifi, ethernet, sleep, shutdown, restart, video res, usb etc etc

Then branch out to running those basic categories through their paces via the software you normally use. Once problems areas are noted, begin searching here again for fixes.

Good luck!

xBench is a good tool. Also, check System Profiler and it'll tell you if things are missing. Stuff like Quartz Extreme not being supported should draw your attention to problem areas that need focus.

I always check syslog when I've done a new build. If there are any major problems you'll see errors cropping up in the syslog.

But in terms of checking to make sure hardware is working, the only way is to test it out. So if you're using your Hackintosh for Logic (like me) - I always make sure my M-Audio box is working, and that Logic can record / playback, and that all my AU's work.

Sound / Video are obvious, as well as network.

I overclock, so the next step for me is to stress test using CPU test.
