tvon
A few preferences are getting reset to default when I reboot. The ones I'm noticing are modifier keys (changing caps lock to control) and font smoothing. Some preferences are remaining set as they should be, eg Spaces is enabled when I reboot and my selected wallpaper remains. Any ideas? I'm running a new (this week) install of iDeneb 1.3, vodoo kernel and software-updated to 10.5.6. Apologies if this is the wrong place for this. tvon
After looking around for a bit I noticed the ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost folder contains duplicates, eg: com.apple.systemuiserver.0000006c00f8.plist com.apple.systemuiserver.0000006c0a7a.plist com.apple.systemuiserver.0000006c1935.plist com.apple.systemuiserver.0000006c3253.plist com.apple.systemuiserver.0000006c6541.plist com.apple.systemuiserver.0000006c6b34.plist com.apple.systemuiserver.0000006c7a58.plist com.apple.systemuiserver.0000006ca00c.plist com.apple.systemuiserver.0000006cf20a.plist Oddly, I don't think this started happening until I started using the darwin-ata NForceATA drivers. I could be wrong though, I was doing a lot to get things working for a few days there... [edit] AHA, IOPlatformUUID is apparently changing on every boot... no clue why or how to stop it though. Beerkex'd
Try Slice's UUID.kext. /edit Someone edited my post and put a direct link to the kext instead of to the whole thread. The thread contains crucial information.. like PlatformUUID and boot volume UUID must not match or your system will become unbootable. If that happens, here's how to remove it: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...p;#entry1017648 UUID.kext info is spread around this thread: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=117029 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/145878-ioplatformuuid-changing-on-every-boot/#findComment-1036618 Share on other sites
tvon
That fixed it, thanks! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/145878-ioplatformuuid-changing-on-every-boot/#findComment-1036883 Share on other sites
Beerkex'd
That fixed it, thanks! You can delete the duplicates with the old UUID from that folder. Sort by date makes it easy. [edit] I spoke too soon, in an attempt to improve my USB setup I installed IOPCIFamily.kext which seems to be the culprit for the 'waiting for boot volume with UUID' error. In the process of fixing it now. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/145878-ioplatformuuid-changing-on-every-boot/#findComment-1037066 Share on other sites
