the_maniac
hi, i am a complete MAC n00b ... i've managed to install VISTA, MAC and FEDORA 10 on my PC . System boots correctly. MAC OS runs fine too. The problems I am facing are : 1. When I plug in my portable external HD through USB, MAC does not detect it at all. Same is the case with my Transcend pen drives...they just dont get detected. 2. I have an ADSL connection [HUWAEI router] connected to the PC through ethernet. If the ethernet is connected before boot, i am able to connect normally.. but if its connected after boot [ n after i'm given the desktop] i am not able to connect to net. 3. In my cabinet, there is this front panel where i can plug in my headphone. The problem is there is no sound output from that panel. I have to always rely on the port given behind [on the other side ] to listen to any music. So now, can you experts please tell me how I can solve all the above mentioned problems ? PS : I did try one tutorial for solving ethernet problems on THIS PAGE. but when i ran the command : sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache i got an error message saying no such file exists [or something similar] My System Specs : CPU : Intel® Core2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz Motherboard manufacturer : ASUSTeK Computer INC. Model : P5LD2-VM-CR-SI Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/145234-a-few-issues/ Share on other sites

Ianxxx
BUMP. <need help...someone.. please look into it> I'm not familiar with the board, but I think the best place to start would be checking that your kernel and system kexts are matching. for kernel open terminal and type uname -a this will give you a version number eg. 9.6.0. For system.kext open system profiler and click on software/extensions find system.kext and read the version number. If these two don't match you've found your problem. If they do match you made need a patched usb kext Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/145234-a-few-issues/#findComment-1033477 Share on other sites
