neodorian
It's been a while since I tried to install OSX on non-Apple hardware. I never did get anywhere on my old PCs. I now have this Thinkpad to play with so I figured I would give it a shot. So far, I have tried Kalyway's 10.5.2 and iPC 10.5.6. Both of them start to boot to the DVD, have me hit any key or f8, and then get through a few lines before the machine reboots. It's too fast to see where it craps out. CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 @ 2.4GHz (MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4.1, EM64T) Mobo chipset: Intel GM45/GM47, Southbridge ICH9-M Graphics: Intel Mobile 45 Express Chipset Any starter tips? BIOS settings I should tweak first? Thanks. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/145047-lenovo-thinkpad-sl500/ Share on other sites

Do you know how to get the Intel GM45 going? Thanks I could be wrong but that is a common issue. Until Apple releases a device that uses that chipset it seems like we are kinda screwed. I have given up on running OSX on this laptop for now as too much of the hardware isn't supported. Win7 for now Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/145047-lenovo-thinkpad-sl500/#findComment-1116536 Share on other sites

I'm running into two problems and one issue. I can't get the sound to work. I know it has a conexant HD smartaudio 221. I installed the kext driver from (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=42859). The 2nd problem is the wifi. I looked it up and it has 11b/g mini pci express adapter 3 (Atheros Comm. Inc). I have no idea where to get a kext for it. Lastly, I've got chameleon 2.0RC1 installed. It boots Vista fine. It recognizes that there's a Mac primary partition and tries to boot it. It gets to: Mac Framework successfully initialized using 15728 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers Then it hangs. I can successfully boot it from the install DVD (with ideneb 1.4 on it), do F8, put in "rd=disk0s3 -f -v" and it boots up without a hitch. What is it that's making it hang? When it boots from DVD it states: dsmos: Initializing .... dsmos: Hook and decryption contexts set .... .... dsmos: Starting .... But it doesn't when I boot it from chameleon. Could that be a symptom of the underlying problem? Any ideas on how to fix any of the problems? thanks!
