Hey guys!

I have a Dell E1505 laptop that I would like to install leopard onto, is this possible?

I've read a bunch of the stickys, but don't really understand much of it. I'm usually very good with computers, but this is totally new territory for me.

Thanks! :(

You would probably have a lot of problems finding support for your graphics ati x1400 I don't think anyone has developed a proper solution for it yet so you would probably be limited to 1024x768 res.

There is some support for gma950 graphics card, I haven't installed a laptop with it but if you search around on here you'll find instructions. So yes a much better choice.

If you get really stuck pm me

Okay, I'. looking around..but find nothing.

Can someone give me a step by step of what I need?

Hey, I have a Dell E1505, but I've got Leopard 10.5.2 installed on a VM (VMWare Workstation 7). It's really slow and laggy (as in movement and such, such as selecting things and waiting for apps to load up), but the boot up is about the same as Windows 7 (~17 seconds).

I can tolerate the slowness until I find some time to actually "install" Leopard (not snow), with adequate time.

If you would like to play around with the OS and get to know it before actually installing it onto your computer, I can help you. The irony is that I used a Darwin bootloader (is that correct?) made for hacking Snow Leopard onto a VM, with the 10.5.2 Kalyway ISO as an ISO file. I should have used the disc that I had burned (I forgot that I burned one), so the install time of Mac was about 3 hours.

Anyways, I'll be installing with you, since I'll be reading this topic as well. *Bookmarked :)

I've done it on my E1505 w/ ATI x1300, It worked alright, Limited Res, no QE/CI well I eventually got it but with a lot of hacking around. It appears that the fault lies in the way the Video card communicated with the internal LCD. So when I was mobile I had limited res and no hardware QE/CI (Force enabled Software) But then I was home or at a friends house and hooked up an external monitor and switched to that before boot up I had full res change along with hardware QE/CI the issue was that I had to swap out drivers every time I switched or I couldn't boot up on the internal with the external drivers.

I used the Kalyway 10.5.2 Install disk, Had it upgraded to 10.5.5 before I lost all Video kexts due to an upgrade as they weren't too compatible. When I get around to reinstalling it again I am going to try the iDeneb v1.4 disk instead this time.

When you go to do this plan to have atleast a weekend working on it, as you may be reinstalling the OS a few times. If you can I'd HIGHLY suggest using another HD While you work out the first install so you don't accidentally tank any other OS's on it. (NOTE; on the E1505 any SATA 2.5" Laptop hard drive works just swap the drives out of the tray)

Final Note;

I used this guide during my install http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=15474 Keep in mind though when I went through it was as nearly as refined as it is today.

Good Luck
