Xempy
This is my problem. I remember reading of people with a similar problem and their solutions, but my searching to bring back up these posts has rendered fruitless. Is anyone familiar with a fix to being stuck on this screen? (<- Picture of my screen) I'm going to play around with install settings and see what happens. I'm on an AMD, if that matters. Also, booting the DVD with -v, it doesn't stop anywhere or give an error message. just straight to the install screen. Reveeen
What you are seeing is the result of a major error. A "major error" is the incompatibility of the software you have installed with any of 3 "things", your processor, your chipset, or your video. So, the thing to do is: 1) determine EXACTLY what you have for hardware, checking to see if your hardware is supported 2) do the research on what to install, which may include checking what others are installing for similar systems 3) try again Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/143775-boot-screen-stuck-after-installation/#findComment-1020894 Share on other sites
Xempy
What you are seeing is the result of a major error. So, the thing to do is: 1) determine EXACTLY what you have for hardware, checking to see if your hardware is supported 2) do the research on what to install, which may include checking what others are installing for similar systems 3) try again I had forgotten to select the option for my chipset (ATi sb600, I think it was) Now I no longer get the "no-smoking" symbol, just the spinning wheel. However, once that screen goes away I get a black screen with one line of white text that flashes quickly at the very top. With -v, the error appears to be "Diskarb isn't ready yet. We'll try again soon." It says that about three times, and then it gives what looks like the same text as before,("before" being the text in my video above) but this time scrolling very quickly instead of flashing in one place. Any idea what causes this? I've been researching it but it doesn't seem like it's an error that normally stops booting completely. I'm going to provide as much info as I can...
