Hi,

I have a Thinkpad X31 with a Dual-Boot of OSX 10.4.5 and Wind XP SP2 using the Acronis Bootloader on one HDD. Both the Windows and the OSX partition are primary.

Recently I had to repair my Windows Install with the automatic repair using the XP Install disc.

Since then, I cannot boot into OSX anymore.

The following message appears: "NTDLR is missing. Please press a key to reboot."

Windows boots fine...

I tried the following:

1. Copy the NTDLR from the XP CD to the XP partition and set the right attributes (found the idea in this forum somewhere)

2. Use the OSX 10.4.5 DVD and tried to reinstall OSX

2a. Repaired disk - found a error in the disk header, or something like this...

2b. Repaired disk permissions...

Unfortunatly, nothing worked and I cannot boot into OSX...

How can I get it working again, without loosing the OSX install?

Arne

First do following:

1. Boot with XP-CD to console

2. Now type following one after another(!!!):

fixmbr c:

fixboot c:

copy x:\i386\ntldr c:

copy x:\i386\ntdetect.com

bootcfg /rebuild (after enter, type winxp name only, others left empty)

3: download "chain0" and copy to c:

4: Edit boot.ini on c: and add the following line at the end:

C:\chain0="Apple Mac OS X"

5: Save and reboot

Now everything works again, but with xp-own boot menu :)

chain0.zip
