Okay so I'm trying to get Synthogy Ivory running on my system and I recently did a fresh install of Leopard OS X 10.5.5. By the way, Ivory is a piano sampling software for audio recording.

What I'm wondering is this:

After I install the AU files for Ivory 1.5, which one of the updates do I install from Synthogy's download page? Do I use the one entitled "Ivory 1.64 Updates for Tiger or older (Challenge/Response)" or am I able to do the "Ivory 1.71 Updates for Tiger or Leopard (iLok)?"

The reason I ask this is that since I use Leopard and the 1.64 update seems to only be for Tiger, can I still use it on Leopard or do I have to use the 1.71 iLok update? However, I don't have an iLok dongle (or whatever it's called these days) and I'm just really struggling to make sense of this all. I've received some tips from other AU members but I wanted to post my question in the MAC forum just to make sure I cover all my bases.

All I'm looking for is a very straightforward easy guide to properly install, update, and run Synthogy Ivory on my Intel Mac.

Here are some responses I've received so far. I'll keep the original member names anonymous unless they say it's cool to reveal who they are:

A)

1. Install Ivory version 1.5 2. Check the libraries with the library tool from version 1.64.2 - they will be converted into UB-versions 3. Replace the AU with the one from version 1.64.2 (Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/) 4. Replace the standalone with the one from version 1.64.2 5.(Optional)- run the script to set the priviliges correct. 6. Start Logic

I can mail you the updated versions and the lib tool.

B )

It's quite simple, you'll need the latest official update, then extract the library tool from that file. I don't exactly remember where it is but it's easy to find, just go in to the library files. Then, you need to copy the library tool to the Ivory Items folder and then run it. It'll do the conversion that you mentioned. And finally, you need to copy the AU v1.62 file that you can download from the tracker to the Library/Audio/Plugins/Components folder.. That's all..

C)

Grab the 1.6x updates from wherever (synthogy's website even, that's what I did) and use their tool to update your Ivory Items to UB format.

Note you may have to go into the .app or .mpkg or whatever format it is, and modify one of the post-check scripts to return 0 as irrc it checks your OS version and returns an error code if its >1.4.

This will let you get into the libcheck tool that updates your Ivory Items into UB format.. I can't remeber exactly where it was, but grab the update, and see if you can get it to update your Ivory Items, then that au will work.

I'm just trying to combine the best elements of all the instructions above because I only want to do this one time. I just can't be installing, uninstalling this stuff and would like a layman's guide to doing this all properly.

Thanks!

UPDATE:

I recently sent an email to the Synthogy support staff and here's what they told me in regards to running Ivory on Leopard:

"Yes", you must update to Ivory 1.71 in order to run it with Leopard, and "No", 1.64 will not work in Leopard. As I mentioned before, use of Ivory in Leopard requires the update to 1.71, but also a registered PACE iLok copy protection device.
