canberra25
Hello! First, let me say that I've read every thread dealing with this and I am still not having any luck. I own a Dell Inspiron 530, and I'm running Kalyway 10.5.1. I cannot get it to update beyond that, and I have no interest in updating. Okay: Here's my problem! I installed the XCode tools, and then the poweroff fix, and it still will not power off. Maybe it has something to do with the script in the StartupItems folder? Where can I get that script, and how do I compile it/ make it work?! Thanks! svtguy08
I have the same problem with my 530, q6600, 8800 gts, 4GB ram, etc... I have iDeneb 10.5.5 on a 500GB HD and it will restart when I select "Restart" and/or "Shutdown". I can't seem to get it to shutdown and I have applied the recommended kexts as well. Any help would be great. Also what is the best way to update to 10.5.6? Links or How To's would be of great help! Thanks Again to all who have made this possible. canberra25
Solved. No idea how, though. I noticed that when I went to shut down the computer, it would turn the light from blue to amber then off. Then, it would quickly come back on. So it was shutting down, but something was telling it to turn back on. I turned off a few settings in the bios, and it shuts down now! =D When I get back home I will post again to tell what I shut off. svtguy08
That would be great if you could post the bios settings. If I remember correctly, there are not that many settings that can be changed in the bios as Dell has it locked down. What Bios Rev are you running? Thanks Again!
