SaneBear
I recently purchased my first netbook, an Eee PC 1000H. When I have the time and money, I want to try and install Mac OS X on it. But first, I want to give a Hackintosh to a friend. I'm currently leaning towards a Samsung NC10. This is sort of a going away present, and I only have about ten days to get it rady. I visited the Newbie's Guide to OSX86 page at http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=127677 It's very informative, but it also tells me this is probably a little over my head. So I have a few questions. 1. Can anyone point me to a really good guide to installing Mac OS X on a Samsung NC10? I've been Googling for references but haven't found anything really good yet. 2. Can you recommend a strategy for hiring someone to help me install it? I probably couldn't afford more than $50. (My job's being downsized, along with everyone else's.) I live in Seattle, so there should be plenty of local geeks who could handle the job. Could I just place an ad on CraigsList, "Need geek to install Mac OS X on Samsung NC10"? 3. The instructions mention obtaining some gizmo (DVD drive?) that plugs into the USB port. Since I can't afford one of these external drives at the moment, could I accomplish the same thing with myh external hard drive? 4. If I'm able to install Mac OS OX on my netbook. how will the computer perform in the hands of a novice? Is my friend going to have to nurse this computer to avoid messing things up? Will she have to treat it differently, or will it likely be a fully functional mini-Mac? Thanks! P.S. If there are no good instructions for doing this with a Samsung NC10, then I might get another Eee PC or an Aspire One instead. Can anyone confirm that a MacSamsung can connect to the Internet? I read an article that suggested there may be some problems here. I'm using Verizon to connect my Eee to the Internet when I'm at work, though I can also connect with WiFi at home. I'd like the same options on my Samsung. Also, I want to give my friend a wireless Apple keyboard, but I don't think it will work without Bluetooth, and I just read that the Samsung doesn't have Bluetooth. Can anyone elaborate on that? What would it cost to install Bluetooth? Thanks. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/140703-mac-os-x-on-samsung-nc10/ Share on other sites
