SticMAC™
I was looking for a 2 SATA USB drive enclosure and found this on e-Bay: http://www.data-tec.com.tw/products/products-12/u350sr.html It cost me $55,00 , delivered! I arrived here and I noticed the box outside showed it had three options: 1) JBOD 2) RAID 0 3)RAID 1 The tag was stuck on the RAID 1 and true to form both 250GB drives showed up as only one 250GB with the ability to hotplug the drive and keep the other one working with the data mirrored! But I saw in the Manual that it had the option in WindBlows to be set as JBOD, MIRROR, STRIPE or SPAN!? So I started up my XP in VMWare and connected it to XP here I used the acompanied RAID Utility to switch it to JBOD, true to form, once I disconnected it from XP(VMWare) Disk Utility saw the two 250GB drives as seperate drives! Then I tried Striping in XP, and once again after configuring it in XP and disconnection it, Mac OS saw it as a 500GB drive! It would seem that it has a programmable chip (Initio INIC-1615 chip)on the backplane that can be configured in XP Just thought it might be useful to someone, use it ,don't use it? SticMAC ps thanks Hagar for lifting my ban! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/140535-data-tec-u350sr-external-enclosure/ Share on other sites
