Apple Software Update and Boot132

Hi.

 

I was wondering if anyone can explain the following:

 

1) What causes Apple Software Update (to 10.5.5) to not work (hang) during update?

 

2) What is it exactly about the boot132 method that makes it work? I mean, is it the fact that it loads kexts from /Extra ? is it the fact that it loads it from a different partition (or not?) From what I gather, it hangs because during update it loads IntelCPUPowerManagement.kext. but wouldn't it load it anyway if I booted using boot132? Some people said that it's because boot132 loads the disabler kext when booting.. but wouldn't it be loaded even without boot132 if it's in /System/Library/Extensions?

 

I'm really lost about this and would like to understand better. if anyone can clearify this it would be extremely appreciated!
