Abda92
Hi, I'm trying to run iDeneb v1.3 on my PC. My specs: CPU: AMD Phenom 2.6 GHz x4 9950 BE MB: Asus M3A (nForce 560 chipset) HDD: 500 GB WD SATA DVD is IDE.. I had problems booting the install DVD (Still waiting for root device), but after replacing its kexts with LawlessPPC's kexts (which worked before on my system), everything went smoothly with the installation. Now, when I start my PC, I get the chameleon bootloader screen, but it just reboots after the countdown (it flashes some text about loading the OS). -x and -F didn't help except that safe mode showed all the extensions being loaded one by one. Now the weird thing is, I can boot with my DVD inside. I just have to press F8, and input rd=disk0s3 (which is where Leopard was installed) and everything goes fine and I can remove the DVD after booting. But this doesn't work without the DVD... (I get the same problem) I tried reinstalling chameleon using its installer but that didn't help, and I couldn't find anything else to help on google. Thank you Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/139699-endless-restart-loop-after-successful-install/ Share on other sites
adamsweeting
Sounds to me like the Extensions.mkext that is on the "hidden" EFI partition (where Chameleon is) doesn't like your hardware. You need to create your own custom Extensions.mkext to get Chameleon to boot your hardware properly. Munky has made a guide on manually putting the correct files the EFI partition - Check that out. I built a Hackintosh for my friend last weekend, and was having the same issue (would boot with Boot132 in the drive, but wouldn't boot from the HD). So I took the Extensions.mkext from the Boot132 CD, and dropped that in the EFI partition and then it booted fine from the HD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/139699-endless-restart-loop-after-successful-install/#findComment-989556 Share on other sites
Abda92
I tried using the DVD's Extensions.mkext but that didn't help. Then I tried installing a different kernel and it got past that problem, but it still wouldn't boot except in safemode. Then I copied the mkext from the DVD and extracted it too to get past that problem. Now everything's WORKING fine, but not looking very good... For some reason (probably because of the different kernel), my partitions are showing as folders, but function normally. Is there any way I could fix that?
