I finally got a Kalyway install to go through. I chose nforcekernel and configured my grub and threw the chain0 file in my Windows root (I have XP+Ubuntu+Kalyway). Neither one works. I get an almost instant reboot after a screen similar to the attached file. I have tried the other kernels, half give the same results, the other half take me to the gray loading screen where there's 10-15 seconds of HDD activity, then it sits there. I enabled Disable Execute Prevention, but couldn't find the ACPI2 or speedstep options in my BIOS. I tried cpus=1. What else can I try? Any advice is appreciated. Specs of my whitebox machine:

Pentium D 2.80 GHz

ECS nforce 570 slit-a mobo

200 GB Maxtor PATA HDD (all other drives unplugged)

2 GB DDR2 667

2 DVD-RWs

nVidia 6200TD vid

I wiped that installation clean and tried an install of iAtkos. At startup, it does the same thing the other package did (with certain kernels), I get the gray loading screen with HDD activity for 15 seconds or so, then hangs. Any ideas at all?

Check your BIOS settings against suggested settings in my Pre-Series 7 nForce thread...... :)

verdant, I don't mean to put the cart before the horse, but I do want to immediately thank you for the quick reply. I have my reading cut out for me tonight.

No problems......glad to help......especially if you decide to read my blog guides too...... :)
