sjefdeklerk
Hi, I've installed Darwin v1.3 on my Asus P5Q deluxe, on an Intel X25-M SSD. Now, it does work, but it takes a long time to boot, this is due the fact that it takes somehow a long time (i'd say around 30 seconds) to find the 'boot device'. Isn't there a way to specify this automatically, so the bootloader doesn't have to search for it ? Or anybody any clue as to why it takes so long to find the SSD ? After the OS has booted, the SSD works quick as lightning, so it's purely the detection thats' slow. BTW, I had the same installation before, but then on my HDD, the whole thing then booted in 12 seconds. *EDIT* here the problem is described too, so it seems a known issue with 10.5.5 (at least, that's what I make from it using bablefish translation) http://www.spirica.jp/blog/archives/2008/1...el_x25m_os.html Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/138400-ssd-30-seconds-needed-to-find-boot-drive/ Share on other sites
sjefdeklerk
Found a solution: when you configure the controller as IDE instead of AHCI, the detection delay is gone ! There's a modified KEXT that you can use on ICHx to do this: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=129222 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/138400-ssd-30-seconds-needed-to-find-boot-drive/#findComment-979832 Share on other sites
