Hello. I'm sure this has been previously discussed but I could not find valuable resources to help my problem.

I attempted to install Kalyway Leopard earlier and I got the message "Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk and Press Enter" after installing and rebooting. I tried to restore the master boot record and do a system repair with the Windows XP install disc with no luck. Long story short, I reinstalled windows and got my system up and running again. However, I will not quit without a fight.

I went ahead and downloaded iDeneb v1.3 (10.5.5) with the nVidia nforce patch because the disc wouldn't load properly without it. When the disc booted properly, I used the Mac disc utility to format some unpartitioned space into a Mac Journalised file system partition. I selected some options that seemed appropriate for my system and went to install. The system checked the DVD and apparently the disc was not burned correctly. So I went ahead and rebooted without installing (planning on burning a new disc). Voila, "Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk and Press Enter" despite not actually attempting to install Leopard.

What is an appropriate method to restore acess to my Windows XP system without having to reinstall XP? Should I download a boot loader? If so which one and could somebody point me to resources as to adding correct entries to the boot loader. How do I install the loader? After restoring XP, I would like to dual boot Windows XP and Leopard.

Here are my specs:

m/b: Asus m2n-e nvidia nforce integrated lan/audio/etc

cpu: amd x2 4800+ (sse 3 capable)

gfx card: Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS 524mb

I can't remember everything else off the top of my head but I don't think it is too relevent right now. I have a good understanding of computers. I have had a number of linux distros on my PC, so I understand the basic terminology; however I am a little confused by a number of things concerning Mac OS x86 installs so forgive my ignorance.

Thank you for reading this far, hope to read some of your responses soon!

I found a fix by devilhood:

Boot off your OS X Installation Disc in single user mode. This can be done by pressing F8 at the disc's Darwin Prompt and typing -s.

At the single user prompt, type these commands exactly:

fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0

flag 1

update

write

quit

reboot

This worked for me. I had XP installed on the first partition and nothing on the second. I was able to boot into XP again.
