pspkicks316
Well. I've had OSx86 Kalyway 10.5.2 on my Dell m1530 for a while now. But, I want to use it. ACTUALLY use it. Some background on my system before I ask questions. Dell m1530 Intel C2D T8300 @ 2.4Ghz nVidia 8600M GT 256MB DDR3 4GB DDR2 667Mhz RAM 200GB HDD partitioned 100gb for Vista, 50gb for Ubuntu, 20gb for music, 30gb for OSx86 (I think). Internal bluetooth Intel 4965a/g/n wifi card Internal webcam/mic Fingerprint reader Sigmatel High Def audio I think that's all of the noticable things. Well, ok. I'm at Kalyway 10.5.2 updated to 10.5.3 using the Kalyway update installer, then to 10.5.4 using the (I think) official updater from Apple's site. I don't remember what kernel I chose. I checked the wiki on which was needed to function for my model and chose that, I remember. What I want to know, is this. What version of OSx86 should I download and install, with what options, what edits, what mods, etc., so that I can get everything working? I'd like sleep/shutdown/restart to work, also. And, I'd like to preferably be on the latest version, 10.5.5 right? Most notably the wireless and sound, as that's bugging me quite a bit. I'm not new to this sort of stuff, well I am to OSx86 sorta. But I'm not computer illiterate. So don't feel the need to dumb things down Any and all help will be appreciated. I'd preferably someone who knows exactly what I need to post in here so I can get this done fast, and have a full functional OSx86 install Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/137902-some-quick-questions-need-help/ Share on other sites

tmaxxtim
All I can say is check here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=83039 That guide and the iAtkos 4i DVD got my M1530 working without a problem. Video, Audio, Wireless, just about everything. You won't get this working: Intel 4965a/g/n wifi card You need the Dell Truemobile Wireless card to make it work. You said you are updating using the 10.5.4 Official updater.......you can't upgrade to 10.5.4 or 10.5.5 or ANYTHING using the original Apple Software updater, it will completely ruin your install.... I think you need to do a LOT MORE SEARCHING on this topic, and how to install in general. You say you aren't computer illiterate, but that's kind of one of the very basics...that you don't use Apple's software updater. pspkicks316
Listen, I've read those topics. I just asked for a basic idea of which version to use, and what would make it work completely. Do not tell me I'm not computer literate or that I've no clue what I'm talking about, because you're wrong. I read that you could use the Delta(Which ever it is that is only for 1 version to the next) update to get to 10.5.4(or 10.5.5, not sure). And guess what, I read it on this very forum. Thanks for the topics (again), I'll just re-read. Maybe I missed something. Thanks. Also, when I last checked up on this stuff, there was a problem with the keyboard and touchpad on the m1530, and needed a modded kext. Has that been fixed or is it still a manual install? *edit, Okay on 10.5.5. Yay. Unfortunately, the 4965bgn experimental drivers don't work for me. And still no sound after the driver install. Oh well. Guess I'll just wait longer. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/137902-some-quick-questions-need-help/#findComment-976903 Share on other sites
