Jackofalltrademasterofnone
Hi. Im new here and i been wanting to put mac on my pc for a while now. I have an iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5. My specs are(I have an xps 410) It has 2 gigs of ram. Intel Core 2 CPU 4300 @1.80Ghz an intel 82566DC GigaBit network connection. It also says its an ACPI x86-based computer. I am wondering if iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5 is the correct iso. I dont have any mac computer so i cant install kexts. I could get tiger on my other computer at a last resort. Thank you for all who helped me. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/137709-some-advice/ Share on other sites

bowlesbe
Hi Jackofalltrades, I am a *almost* complete Newbie so my comments should be taken with a grain of salt... but a) if you have a Intel Core 2 CPU then the iDeneb DVD should work... and the reason no one replied is probably because this is also a question that can be answered by you just by doing a bit more research... my impression from reading around on this forum for a few days now is that the people who typically give the answers on this board like newbies to heavily invest in their own research before asking any questions... c) I'm pretty sure no one on this board has a mac, so although I don't understand Kexts yet (im trying), im pretty sure they are a helpful tool in installing OS10 on PCs... so the fact that you don't have a mac is irrelevant. I wonder, given that seem to be so many newbies here who ask "dumb" questions, whether we could have a forum just for people getting introduced to the material, so as to provide a way for us to get our questions answered without diluting the relatively high-level questions that usually fill this board? My point is simply that a guy has to start somewhere... so I personally understand exactly where you are coming from. Jackofalltrademasterofnone
Thank you so much. I'm sorry. I should of done more research to answer my question but I didn't know where to search. Also from my knowledge after reading the forum for a bit. Kexts you put the iso on a mac. and You go on the terminal and do some commands to fix issues or bugs. Thats about Gist of it. Well again. Thank you for taking time to answer my question. I greatly appreciate it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/137709-some-advice/#findComment-975618 Share on other sites
Sysyphus
Jackofalltrades, First, goto the OSX86 Wiki Page and look at the HCL for your PC: Dell XPS 410 Looks like someone has managed to install OSX on this particular Dell. Second, search the forums (nothing specific for the XPS 410, however)... Dell XPS 420 Help? DELL x86 forum..
