bjhjzj
Computer specs: Sony Vaio FS640/W Intel Centrino, up to SSE2 Intel 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family Partition 1: XP Partition 2: NTFS space for personal files Partition 3: 9 gb set aside for OSX (NTFS) Using ToH_x86_rc2: Inserting the DVD and after the Vaio animation, I get picture 1. I just click enter and 15 minutes of picture 2-like scrolls. The screen changes the text shape and I get picture 3 and ultimately it arrives at picture 4, hanging. This has occurred without variation over the last three attempts. The first attempt I got to a bluish screen, where it hung also for a while. I have not seen that since. I am not really getting to any screen where apparently most people have issues. Does anything look blatantly wrong? Where it hangs: Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/136824-install-dvd-stops/ Share on other sites
macuser5777
Ok, without being able to help you specifically, here's this: Chances are, somebody has run into the same or a similar problem as you have, so what you would want to do is look at where it says "panic(cpu 0 caller 0x00363cad7): "Process 1 exec of /sbin/launchd failed, errno 5\n"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1228/bsd/kern_exec.c:2884" This is interesting because its the exact point at where your CPU halted and the whole thing crashed. So the backtrace says "Process 1 exec of /sbin/launchd failed", which is a good String to enter into the almighty SEARCH function. If you're in luck, your error has one specific, easy-to-fix reason that will show up in this forum. It also may be a generic error that happens because of various reasons. Or an unknown and unsolvable mystery. So yeah, I got you this thread (there may well be others) http://forum.osx86scene.com/viewtopic.php?...p;sk=t&sd=a Same exact error, probably a good read. Secondly, you have those 9 gigs at the end of your hard-drive... are you sure it's a primary partition? Because you need one of those to boot. And you can't make it primary without losing your data, which reminds me to tell you to BACKUP ALL YOUR DATA unless you haven't already. bjhjzj
The partition I made was incorrect, so I redid that with PartitionMagic (picture 2). The install now seems to stop earlier, at the screen in picture 1. My BIOS is really simple and I don't see anything that can be changed. Am I supposed to see options under the very first screen?(bootloader?) (all I see is ToH, hd(31,1), or something along those lines) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/136824-install-dvd-stops/#findComment-969629 Share on other sites
