hi

i've got a DLink DWA-556 which i want to work. doesnt matter if it is n or g since i only use the network for internet.

so, i pluged it in (kalyway 10.5.1 -> updates to 10.5.5 vanilla kernel), i see it in the network panel as "Airport", but the status is "Off". when i try to activate it, nothing happens.

under system profiler, i see the card as "AirPort extreme (0x168C, 0x3A70)", function range "Unknown" and firmware 1.4.3.1

anything i can to?

i always thought the card would at least work OOB as .g-card

This card works marginal at best, will never see 11n due to the lack of 5ghz support but you can get a 130mbps connection when you get the drivers straightened out.

The fixes supplied in the non real apple (vanilla) installation installs modified software and software from 10.4 which is not a proper solution for fixing wireless so you now have to install the correct software to get things working.

So far, I am the only provider of real apple AirPort PCIe desktop adapter that work OOB with apple software and the cost is similar to the DWA-556
