My vostro specs: processor: 1.4 Ghz intel core 2 Duo video-Intel gma x3100 audio- sigmatel 9205 network- ethernet bcm 4401 wi-fi: dell this one works out of the box I tried many installations disk, but the only ones that worked was the itakos , so this is what you need 1.-iatkos v4i dvd installation disk (10.5.4) 2.-dell laptops post intaller (thanks sonotone) 3.- vanilla kernel 9.5.1 ( i took it from the combo update 10.5.5) 4.- apple hda patcher v 1.20 , appleHDA.kext and sigmatel 9205 dump ( thanks mferreira85) 5.-osx86tools I've donne a package containing everything but the iatkos dvd, i dont want to take any credits of the developers of the tools, so hope there is no problem of putting all this together. package : http://rapidshare.com/files/162266520/package.zip ok, here we go: install iatkos v4i, don't install any video or sound driver, and use a vanilla kernel 9.4.0 after the install finish, open dell laptops post installer and install the graphics , the applesmbios macbook or mackbookpro, battery meter and lid sleep, and the safe updates ( this is very important). then use osx86tools to repair permission and reboot. ok at this step this shoud not work: sleep, shutdown and audio what we have to do next is upgrade to 10.5.5 first we need to check that we are using a vanilla kernel , open osx86tools and click install or restore kernel, at the bottom it says which one are you using, it should say vanilla 9.4.0 . now if we have the vanilla kernel, we can update directly from apples software updates after the update has been done, we proceed to install the audio http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=77926&pid=710055&mode=threaded&start=200#entry710055 and the kernel vanilla 9.5.1with the kernel package provided, repair permission and restart, everything should now work except shutdown.. thats all, sorry from my english ,hope this can help someone. d94 Posted December 10, 2008 Share Posted December 10, 2008 excellent guide! just a few Q's for my config as i have an m1330 what would i do differently to get my 8400m optimally working and intel bgn wifi? thanks for the guide iv currently got v5 and its just a pita..kb/mouse doesnt even work amongst other things which items should i select in the configuration part of the install?
