Hi, I'm a noob to the Hackintosh world and so I thought I'd share my new Hackintoch with you! :)

Using guide on TheReformed.org & various other guides across the net (including this forum), I've managed to get 10.4.10 running on my old Dell Inspiron 8200.

Spec: P4 Mobile 1.6Ghz (SSE2), 512MB, Geforce 4 440 Go 64MB.

What works:

  • 1600x1200 resolution (using MacVidia drivers)
  • Ethernet
  • Sound (and volume buttons)
  • Trackpad

What doesn't work:

  • DVD playback (app crashes)
  • iWorks 08 (all apps just freeze)
  • iPhoto doesn't render photos when editing
  • Generally sluggish graphics (e.g. when using Dashboard or Expose)

I'm guessing most of these problems are down to the lack of support for the Geforce 4 440 Go? It's not a common chip but it was used in the old PowerBooks so I would have hoped it would work better.

Anyway, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

M.

:)
