xef6
Okay. Setup: A8N-u, A64 3200+ (Venice), 7800GTX 256 (eVGA), 2GB PC3200 (4x512), and a Western Digital WD400BB (all installations mentioned from here on are on a dedicated drive, no funky partition hoohah going on.) I have booted off the disk image and installed osx through vmware, and can boot fine off the installation through vmware. Booting native off of the vmware-installed disk does not work. I have tried formatting the disk through the install disk image in vmware, then booting to install from a native boot of the install disk, but that does not work. I'd prefer to just install from the native boot, (my problem here) but every time I attempt to format the disk through disk utility, it simply stalls, and does not progress at all, even after letting it sit for an hour or two. I'm truly at a loss as to what to do. Notes: I've checked the jumper settings, and the optical and destination drive are masters on separate channels. The drive is a PATA drive. Any new ideas/solutions would be really helpful and greatly appreciated.
