pixeladdict
I'm running Lawless PPC Leo 10.5.4. It's been running fine for a while now, month or so maybe more. Yesterday My system froze and on reboot I get the "system needs reboot" screen. When this happened, I was using photoshop and downloading a video with tomato. Safari or Firefox might have been open at the time as well. Here's the portion of -v boot where the problem seems to be. <XAudioDevice [HAL] asio: allocating voices 14,15; latency: -4800 -- 32-Bit <XAudioDevice [HAL] asio: alloc_output(chn=9; hw=14) <XAudioEngine[0x3e90e00]: :peformFormatChange(0x3e91600, 0x33d4eee8, 0) Oct 19 06:04:15 localhost fseventsd[38]: event logs in /.fseventsd out of sync with volume. destroying old logs. dies
Does it boot into single user mode? If so, try deleting all the caches after running fsck. pixeladdict
Thanks for the response. Did fsck - was OK, deleted caches directories in system/library and users/library. On -v boot It's now going to a different set of errors after the audiodevice strings. When I have the time later tonight I'll post back here and type out the log. I have to leave the house right now. The last line, if it matters is. Oct 19 08:38:17 localhost mDNSResponder mDNSResponder-171.4 (Apr 20 2008 11:59:52) [33]: starting Is there perhaps another way to clear caches than what I attempted? I am kind of a noob when it comes to terminal stuff, so I just tried what I had found through a quick google search. Nope, you did it right, you just missed a couple. fsck -fy mount -uw / rm -rf /System/Library/Caches rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/Caches rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions.mkext reboot Might help, hopefully. As always, careful when using 'rm', double check your command before hitting enter because a simple typo could take out your whole install.
