oddbrawl
So yeah I wasn't thinking and installed an apple update. Now I am stuck at a restart screen. I've restarted and reinstalled OSX (I'm using Kalyway) and I just end up at the same restart screen. So I guess I am forced to format and re-install. I didn't get around to setting up time machine so now I am hoping some one can tell me how I can grab any documents I had on my computer before I format and start from scratch. Also are these settings ok for my build. (see attachment) My Build: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Quad Core Processor LGA775 Kentsfield 2.40GHZ 1066FSB 8MB Intel D975XBX2 ATX LGA775 Conroe 975X DDR2 PCI-E16 SATA RAID Sound GBLAN 1394 Motherboard Corsair XMS2 DHX TWIN2X4096-6400C4DHX 4GB DDR2 2X2GB PC2-6400 Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB SATA2 3GB/S 7200RPM 16MB Samsung SH-S203B Black SATA DVD+RW 20X8X16 DVD-RW EVGA E-GEFORCE 7300GT If I can't grab my documents it won't be the end of the world it would just be nice. Also should I try a different flavor of OSX? Thanks in advance! asc3nti0n
You've reformatted again already... I see that now... but I recovered my OS after accidental updating... I documented my process here on the board... and although I used a second Mac computer to do it, there is no reason why you can't boot from a DVD to do it... or single-user mode at startup may work too... http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...&pid=867768 "Help I broke Mums' Hackintosh" and http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?aut...p;showentry=392 here is the correct procedure to do it. But I don't think I understand your point, to recover files from a hard drive AFTER a reformat of said hard drive... not going to happen without heavy-duty software. If you have just installed Kalyway over the top of your old installation... time for someone else to jump in, does Mac OS X Install wipe stuff to fit the OS onto a partition if there is something there already?
