Chris Webstar
Hey there, I've been reading up on getting my Dell 1390 (BCM4311) to work on osx86, but all posts seem to asume that I have a IO80211 plugin called AppleAirPortBrcm4311.kext, which I don't. After a whole day of googling and searching my osx discs, I guess I'm out of options. Could anyone provide me with that file please? I've got an iATKOSv4 installation (10.5.4), if that means anything Thanks! Chris Webstar
I only have an Atheros plugin inside of IO80211. I wonder why I don't have it. Mind posting yours, Demthios? I'd be very thankful Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/125103-appleairportbrcm4311kext/#findComment-885524 Share on other sites

I'd be very thankful He posted the plugin for Broadcom already, too difficult to figure out how to get it installed? Chris Webstar
I'm sorry. I browse the site in lo-fi because it annoys me to click every post in a thread to see it. And I didn't see the file in that display mode. Thanks Demthios, and BuildSmart, chill out, dude. Chris Webstar
Can't seem to get it to work. I've also applied Chun Nan's IOPCI kexts. Well... The card *is* listed in lspci -vvnn, but ioreg | grep 14e4 prints nothing. I assume (in my ignorance) that this means that the card is seen by the system but there's no driver loaded in the device tree to make it work. There's also only one network device (en0, wired ethernet, also a broadcom) in NetworkInterfaces.plist. The System Profile, obviously, doesn't show any Airport cards. I'm googling this site (it's own search function is terrible) for the devide ids and other related stuff, trying to dig up some gems. The most interesting thing I've found is someone "hacking" the card's firmware to change the device ids, but he had it working, and was only doing this to make the card work on secured networks. Anyways, here's a printout of the relevant part of lspci -vvnn: 0c:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN [14e4:4311] (rev 01) Subsystem: Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card [1028:0007] Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- INTx- Latency: 0, Cache Line Size: 64 bytes Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 17 Region 0: Memory at f9ffc000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) Capabilities: [40] Power Management version 2 Flags: PMEClk- DSI- D1+ D2+ AuxCurrent=375mA PME(D0-,D1-,D2-,D3hot-,D3cold-) Status: D0 PME-Enable- DSel=0 DScale=2 PME- Capabilities: [58] Message Signalled Interrupts: Mask- 64bit- Queue=0/0 Enable- Address: fee00000 Data: 4096 Capabilities: [d0] Express (v1) Legacy Endpoint, MSI 00 DevCap: MaxPayload 128 bytes, PhantFunc 0, Latency L0s <4us, L1 unlimited ExtTag+ AttnBtn- AttnInd- PwrInd- RBE- FLReset- DevCtl: Report errors: Correctable- Non-Fatal- Fatal- Unsupported- RlxdOrd- ExtTag- PhantFunc- AuxPwr- NoSnoop- MaxPayload 128 bytes, MaxReadReq 128 bytes DevSta: CorrErr- UncorrErr- FatalErr- UnsuppReq- AuxPwr- TransPend- LnkCap: Port #0, Speed 2.5GT/s, Width x1, ASPM L0s, Latency L0 <4us, L1 <64us ClockPM- Suprise- LLActRep- BwNot- LnkCtl: ASPM Disabled; RCB 64 bytes Disabled- Retrain- CommClk+ ExtSynch- ClockPM- AutWidDis- BWInt- AutBWInt- LnkSta: Speed 2.5GT/s, Width x1, TrErr- Train- SlotClk+ DLActive- BWMgmt- ABWMgmt- Capabilities: [100] #14e4 Eventually someone might point me in the right direction.
